LAND & LICHEN

Land & Lichen is an observation of the austere beauty of Interior Alaska. The forms and textures are inspired by the raw simple beauty of the winter landscape. Here life slows to a frozen pace waiting for spring. In anticipation of the long dark evenings, we collect tokens of nature and bring them inside. We transform our indoor spaces into reflections of the outdoors. Even during the chilly months, we long to be harmonious with the natural world, to bring a deeper connection to our thoughts and feelings, and to enhance our sense of contentment. Each piece in this show is a meditation on the contours of the landscape, the textures of birch and lichen, and how the low angles of the sun soften the bite of the winter cold.
